Difference between single and multiple entries visa?

When visiting Vietnam, choosing the right visa type based on your travel needs is really important. In this article, we will explain the difference between a single-entry and a multiple-entry visa:

  • Single-entry visa: This visa allows you to enter and exit Vietnam only once. It is also called a single-use visa. Once you leave Vietnam, the visa becomes invalid, even if it has not yet expired. If you wish to return, you must apply for a new visa.
Example: With a 1-month single-entry visa, you can stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days. However, if you leave after just 1 day, your visa is no longer valid, and you will need a new one to re-enter.

  • Multiple-entry visa: This visa allows you to enter and exit Vietnam as many times as you need while it remains valid. Unlike a single entry visa, which expires once you leave Vietnam, a multiple entries visa lets you return without needing to apply for a new visa, as long as it remains valid.
Example: With a 1-month multiple-entry visa, you can enter Vietnam, stay for a few days, leave, and return multiple times within the 30-day validity period.
